Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is pleased to announce 194 internship/apprenticeship vacancies across various
departments.
The objective of the Kenya Ports Authority internship/apprenticeship program is to provide young adults with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience
and exposure to the real workplace environment.
The following are opportunities available across different divisions for a maximum period of one year (12 months), effective from April 2026.
- Container Terminal Operations (10 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Maritime Transport and Logistics/Maritime Management.
- Container Terminal Engineering (12 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Information Communication Technology, Innovations & Business Process Re-Engineering (12 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Information Technology/Business Information Technology.
- Port Electrical Engineering (12 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Civil Engineering (12 posts) - Bachelor/Diploma in Civil Engineering/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Marine Engineering (12 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering/Mechatronics/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Safety, Health & Environment (7 posts) - Degree in Health, Safety & Environment/Public Health/Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health.
- Supply Chain Management/ Contract Management (9 posts) - Degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management/Logistic /Supply Chain & Sustainability.
- Human Resource (6 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management/Social Sciences.
- Project Development (12 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering/Building and Construction/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Commercial/Insurance Services (6 posts) - Degree in Actuarial Science/Risk Management & Insurance/Maritime Insurance.
- Corporate Communication (5 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Public Relations/Journalism/Communication.
- Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (6 posts) - Degree in Economics/Statistic/Research/Data Science/Analytics.
- Marketing, Cruise & Customer Experience (3 posts) - Degree in Marketing Management/Business Administration/Advertisement/Digital Marketing.
- Administration (6 posts) - Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education/Archives and Records Management.
- Ferry Operations (10 posts) - Diploma in Nautical
Science/Certificates of Competence in Maritime Operations. - Ferry Maintenance (10 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Marine/ Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Security Services (11 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Criminology & Security Management/Bachelor of
Science in Cybersecurity. - Conventional Cargo Engineering (10 posts) - Degree/Diploma Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Government Trade Tests II or III or Certificate of Experiential Learning.
- Conventional Cargo Operations (9 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Maritime Transport and Logistics/Maritime Management and related courses.
- Litigation & Disputes (4 posts) - Degree/Diploma in Law & Records Management.
- Financial/Management Accounting (10 posts) - Degree in Commerce /Financial Management.
To qualify, an applicant must:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen, not more than 27 years old.
- Must have graduated with a first degree (undergraduate), diploma, or certificate from a recognized institution between January 2023 and December 2025.
- Have not undertaken any internship program or been exposed to any work experience related to their area of study since graduation.
- Not having retired or exited from formal employment.
